More Winter Festival with Entrepreneurs and Associations from Mechelen

Mechelen Keeps You Warm gets a Winter Party expansion this year! For those who dream of a spot at the Christmas market, there is good news: the Christmas market in the heart of Mechelen (Belgium) is expanding and additional events are planned in Hombeek and Tivoli. Thanks to new collaborations with local merchants and associations, the winter program continues to grow, both downtown and beyond.

Christmas Market expansion in Mechelen

After the success of the Christmas Market at the Korenmarkt last year, it will now expand to other squares such as Haverwerf, Vismarkt and the area under the Tower. Led by Mechelen Feest and Mechelen Meemaken, Mechelen entrepreneurs themselves are taking the initiative. They also invite other merchants to participate in these cozy winter activities.

Guillaume Clerens, of the popular eatery Foody, is looking forward to the new edition: “We want Mechelen to shine like a warm city. The Christmas market is the perfect time to enjoy the winter months together.”

Hombeek and Tivoli in Fire and Flame

The winter festival is not limited to the city center. In Hombeek and Tivoli there will be a sequel to the successful editions of “In Vuur en Vlam“. In cooperation with local merchants and associations, an atmospheric winter experience will again be created. The events tie in perfectly with the Fiery Winter Evening in the Vrijbroek Park, creating a wonderful cohesion between the festivities.

Klaas Van Opstal of Feestzaal ‘t Oudt School is pleased with the return of Hombeek in Fire and Flame: “This type of event connects associations and merchants, and above all it strengthens the local community.”

Local Economy Gets a Boost

Alderman of Local Economy, Greet Geypen, emphasizes the importance of these collaborations: “We bring winter activities to the villages, where the associational life is flourishing. This not only strengthens the local economy, but also makes our town more attractive for everyone.”“

• Tivoli in Fire and Flame: Friday, Dec. 6 and Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. each time.
• Hombeek in Fire and Flame: Friday, Dec. 13 and Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. each time.
